In "Game of Thrones," this seat made from the blades of vanquished rivals was intimidating to behold, but it was not much of a threat to life or limb.
"House of the Dragon," the prequel to "Game of Thrones," hews closer to George R.R. Martin's vision and adds a new twist: the cuts that Viserys suffers not only refuse to heal but infect him with a particularly nasty strain of leprosy.
"I always viewed the throne as a cursed property," Considine said in an interview with The New York Times on Monday morning. "It's made of the swords that people died on, and it has this strange power about it."

Denham and his family were among a couple hundred participants in what came to be known as the reverse freedom rides, a segregationist political stunt that had ripple effects across generations of Black families. Historians and others have noted the parallels between the reverse freedom rides and the recent migrant flights to Martha's Vineyard, arranged by Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.
In addition, since the spring, Texas and Arizona have provided thousands of undocumented migrants with bus rides to Northern cities like New York and Chicago, taxing those cities' capacities to provide emergency food and housing.
"No historical parallel is ever precise," said Clive Webb, a professor of American history at the University of Sussex. "But it was a cheap publicity stunt in the early '60s, and this is a publicity stunt, too."

The clitoris is an organ "completely ignored by pr The clitoris is an organ "completely ignored by pretty much everyone," medical experts say, and that omission can be devastating to women's sexual health.
Dr. Rachel Rubin, a urologist and sexual health specialist outside Washington, D.C., has been studying this under-examined part of the human anatomy. During a sexual-medicine fellowship, she learned how to examine the vulva and the visible part of the clitoris - something she did not learn in medical school. The full clitoris is a deep structure, made up largely of erectile tissue, that reaches into the pelvis and encircles the vagina.
Not acknowledging the clitoris has the potential to harm women, trans men and other people with vulvas. There have been documented injuries to the clitoris in procedures including pelvic mesh surgeries, episiotomies during childbirth and even hip surgeries. Many of these injuries could be prevented, Dr. Rubin said, if doctors just spent more time getting to know the clitoris.
So why don't we know much about it? To Dr. Rubin, the reason is simple: The clitoris is intimately bound up in female pleasure and orgasm. And until very recently, those themes have not been high on medicine's priority list, nor considered appropriate areas of medical pursuit.
