“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue,” Shakira shared with her 150 million followers on Instagram Stories, just hours before her scheduled performance. “The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.”
The Colombian superstar, who has been on her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, expressed her sadness and regret over missing the chance to perform for her fans in Lima, Peru. “I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I have been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru,” she wrote, adding that she was hopeful for a swift recovery.
Shakira, who had planned to perform at Lima’s Estadio Nacional on both Sunday and Monday nights, also reassured her followers that her team was already working on rescheduling the event. “I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform,” she said. “My team and the promoter are working on a new date to provide you. The singer’s current tour kicked off earlier this month in Brazil, with her first show in Rio de Janeiro on February 11.
